Early voting starts Monday in Tarrant County. Here’s what you need to know

Early voting in Tarrant County begins Monday, and the ballots include transportation and school bonds, constitutional amendments, and city council races in Benbrook and White Settlement.

Eight constitutional amendments are on the line. One would allow counties to finance development for transportation and infrastructure in blighted areas. Another would prohibit the state from limiting religious services.

Tarrant County roads could see improvement if voters approve a $400 million transportation bond program. County commissioners have ranked 33 projects that will receive $200 million in funding with 50% matches from cities. The rest of the bond will go toward multijurisdictional projects ($125 million) and projects in the commissioners’ precincts ($75 million). The transportation bond won’t raise taxes if passed. Tarrant County voters will also decide on a $116 million bond for a new district attorney’s office.

The Fort Worth school district is seeking a combined $1.49 billion to construct and renovate school buildings ($1.21 billion) fine arts buildings ($98.3 million), stadiums ($104.9 million) and recreational facilities ($76.2 million). The district is looking to build a new elementary school with the funds.

Where and when to vote

Early voting is available at 48 locations.

During the week of Oct. 18-22, locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 23, locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 24, locations will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Voting times for the week of October 25-29 will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Those who want to know their voting location can check out Tarrant’s online voter lookup tool, where voters can also find their sample ballot. The county also keeps track of wait times at each location on its website.

If someone wants to vote absentee, they can do so by filling out an application on the county’s website and turning it in to the voting office by email, fax, mail or hand delivery.

Election day is Nov. 2.
