Early voting in Tampa Bay: Here’s how to cast your ballot
Election Day is Tuesday, but more than 3.8 million Florida voters have already cast their ballots, either through mail voting or in-person early voting.
Tampa Bay voters still have a chance to vote early, but time is running out.
Florida requires all counties to allow early voting this year from Oct. 29 through Nov. 5, though they have the option of opening sites as early as Oct. 24 and offering early voting through Nov. 6.
While Floridians must cast their ballots at their designated precincts on Election Day, they can vote at any polling place in their county of residence during early voting. To vote in the 2022 general election, voters are required to have registered by Oct. 11. Registration status can be viewed on the Florida Division of Elections website.

When is early voting?
In Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, early voting runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 6. Early voting in Pasco County runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Saturday. In Hernando County, early voting will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday.
What do I need to bring?
Voters must bring a form of identification with their photo and a form of identification with their signature. They can bring one ID that contains both a photo and a signature, such as a driver’s license. Acceptable forms of identification can be found on the Florida Supervisor of Elections website.
Can I still vote in person if I’ve received a mail ballot? What if I lost my mail ballot?
You can still vote in person if you’ve received a mail ballot. You will be able to either cast a regular ballot, or a provisional ballot, which means the office will check to see whether you have already cast your vote via mail. If you still have your mail ballot and decide you want to vote in person, you should bring it with you to the voting site.
Can I turn in a mail ballot during early voting?
Early voting locations have drop boxes — now called “secure ballot intake stations” — where voters can drop off their mail ballots during early voting hours. Such drop boxes are not available at polling places on Election Day.
I sent my voter registration application in the mail on or before Oct. 11. How can I know if it has been processed?
You can check your voter registration status on the Florida Division of Elections website. You can also call your supervisor of elections.
I’ve moved within my county but haven’t changed my address yet. Where should I go to vote?
During early voting, you can vote at any site in your county. You will be able to update your address at the early voting site.
I’ve moved counties, but haven’t updated my address. Can I still vote?
Yes, you can still vote. You will be able to update your address at the early voting site.
My legal name has changed but I haven’t updated my voter registration yet. Do I need to change it before I vote?
You can update your voter registration at voting locations during early voting and on Election Day and then cast your ballot.
I haven’t voted in a long time. Am I still registered to vote?
Inactive voters may be removed from voting rolls after two election cycles if mail sent from their supervisor of elections office is returned as undeliverable and voters do not respond to an address final confirmation notice. Call your supervisor of elections or visit the Florida Division of Elections website to check your registration status.
