Early voting is underway in Cleveland County
Early voting for the 2023 elections began Thursday with fewer than 60 voters casting ballots on opening day.
Early voting will continue in the weeks leading up to Election Day on Nov. 7. Here are important things to know about early voting:
When and Where
Cleveland County residents may cast their votes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Nov. 3. Early voting will also be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. Early voting is held at the Board of Elections, 215 Patton Drive, Shelby.
Absentee ballots
Voters may request a ballot be mailed to them using the N.C. State Absentee Request Form available at their local elections office or online at clevelandcounty.com.
Registration
Voters can register to vote and cast a ballot during early voting only.
IDs
Beginning with the 2023 municipal elections, North Carolina voters will be asked to show photo ID. All voters will be allowed to vote with or without a photo ID. If a voter cannot show photo ID when voting in person, they can still vote by filling out an ID Exception Form.
