Early voting is underway in Gaston County
Early voting for the 2023 elections began Thursday and will continue in the weeks leading up to Election Day on Nov. 7.
Here are important things to know about early voting:
When and where
Gaston County residents may cast their votes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until Nov. 3. Early voting will also be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4.
IDs
Beginning with the 2023 municipal elections, North Carolina voters will be asked to show photo ID. All voters will be allowed to vote with or without a photo ID. If a voter cannot show photo ID when voting in person, they can still vote by filling out an ID Exception Form.
Absentee
Voters may request a ballot be mailed to them using the N.C. State Absentee Request Form available at their local elections office or online at gastongov.com.
Registration
Voters can register to vote and cast a ballot during early voting only.
