Earthquake rattles Anchorage Alaska; magnitude measured at 4.7

A mild earthquake struck in Anchorage, Alaska on Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The notable quake was recorded about 12 miles south of the city and about two miles south of Eagle River, according to the USGS.

It was not immediately known if anyone was injured.

Data provided by USGS showed the earthquake was 17.5 miles deep.

The quake comes on the heels of another reported one on the West Coast just one day earlier.

A 3.8 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Southern California on Sunday morning near Malibu, officials said.
