Footage from a resident of Matsudo, a city in Chiba prefecture, close to Tokyo, shows a monitor and a desk rattling during the quake.
Japan’s meteorological agency said the quake was considered to be an aftershock from a magnitude-9.0 earthquake – the most powerful ever recorded in Japan – that struck almost 10 years earlier, and killed at least 15,000 people.
The earthquake raised fears for the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Ōkuma, where major damage caused during the 2011 quake caused reactor meltdowns. However, the plant’s operator, TEPCO, said “no abnormalities” were found. Credit: @fschiko_ via Storyful
