Earthquake Rattles Orange County, Southland, Monday

YORBA LINDA, CA — A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck Yorba Linda Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey. Two aftershocks of lesser strength followed the quake shortly thereafter, in Yorba Linda and Placentia.

The temblor was reported just before 3:30 p.m., according to the USGS and multiple residents who chimed in on the USGS website.

The sharp, jolting quake struck at a depth of 5.5 miles below ground, the USGS reported.

Monday's earthquake is one of almost 650 minor quakes to strike the region in the past three weeks, the USGS reports on their website.

The quake was felt in Brea, Huntington Beach, Anaheim and Mission Viejo, Irvine and as far away as Los Angeles, Corona and Lake Elsinore.

No injuries were reported as a result of today's quake.
