California’s north coast has a long history of strong earthquakes

Detected at a depth of 1.6 miles, no reports have come in of any damage being caused caused by the quake. The USGS has received nearly two dozen reports of people who felt the quake.

Canyondam is located just over 160 miles northeast of Sacramento and about 81 miles from the city of Red Bluff.
