Your backyard’s prepped, you’ve traded out your bedding, but if you really want to upgrade your home this summer—and make it feel like a whole new space—there’s one small change you can make right this second. And it’ll have a major impact, swears Christian Siriano.
The 35-year-old designer recently sat down for an exclusive interview with PureWow. Not only did he chat about the all-new Beautyrest by Christian Siriano (more on this later), but he also shared must-know interior advice.
While discussing his plans for summer, Siriano revealed that the easiest way to transform a room is to swap out the wall art. “I really enjoy going bold with my art choices,” he told PureWow. (Rather than fuss with a busy gallery wall, he’s been known to simply lean a large painting against the wall, making the pieces easy to trade out.)
There’s no point in spending tons of money on a small fix, he explained, adding, “I’ve noticed that a lot of our customers are buying beautiful furniture, but it’s the art and accessories that can change everything. You can have a classic couch, but the art you put around it is what makes the room shine.”
Though Siriano is known largely for his fashion design, he’s becoming a major player in the world of furniture and home decor, most recently partnering with Beautyrest to create a mattress ideal for couples—and their wedding registries.
“It was perfect timing,” he said. “You know, we were just launching a Bridal Collection, and we wanted this to feel like something that people could register for and something that they could buy as a new couple for their new home. I think it turned out really beautiful.” The mattress’s ruffled top mirrors the designs in his bridal line, but it’s not all looks—the mattress also features BlackICE 4.0 technology to keep you cool as you sleep.
