East Baton Rouge Parish School System host annual Spring Fling hiring event

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is looking to close the gap of teacher shortages across the capital area by offering recruitment events for new talent in the area.

The annual EBR Spring Fling hiring fair took place early Saturday morning. The hiring fair offered multiple opportunities in jobs like childcare, teaching, certified teachers, bus drivers, teacher aids and more.

Every school located in EBR Parish, along with other vendors attended the event. They came to speak to job seekers, conducting on site interviews and hiring some on the spot.

Many school officials who attended says that this event showcases the potential of those looking to help shape the minds of their students.

“We are here making sure you get everything done because we need some great employees to help with our students,” said Allison Brown-Lands, EBR Parish School System human resources supervisor.

Schools, like Scotlandville Magnet High School, were in attendance looking for bright, young professionals to help further the education of their students.

Principal at Scotlandville Magnet High School, Paul Jackson, says that there’s a lot of great talent across the city and they’re hoping to hire some who came out to help be a part of the school’s legacy.

“We are able to find some great talent and that, that talent will be interested and continuing the excellence that is Scotlandville Magnet High School,” said Jackson.
