East Brunswick: Man dies in Lake Avenue fire Thursday

EAST BRUNSWICK – A man died in a fire in a Lake Avenue home early Thursday morning.

Around 4:24 am. Jan. 26, township police and firefighters responded to a home on Lake Avenue on reports of a structure fire.

Upon their arrival, responders extinguished the fire and found an unresponsive man inside, authorities said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity is withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the cause fire is not suspicious, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.

It's the second fatal fire in East Brunswick since the beginning of winter.

Daniel Dodera, 77, died in an early morning Dec. 20 fire the Crosspointe housing development off Route 18.
