East Newton girls claim fifth in Neosho tournament

Dec. 31—NEOSHO, Mo. — East Newton claimed fifth place Thursday in the girls bracket of the Neosho Holiday Classic with a 47-36 victory over Huntsville (Arkansas).

Three players scored in double figures for the Patriots, who led 23-12 at halftime. Shaw Coburn netted 14, Makenna Brasier 13 and Josie Guinn 11.

East Newton (6-4) will host Monett at 6 p.m. Monday.
