EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An East Side restaurant soon will soon relocate, but it's a short move.

IHOP at 601 N. Burkhardt Road will pack up its batter and syrup and reopen in the empty former Old Chicago location, 6550 Lloyd Expressway.

The relocation is expected to be done by late May or early June, said Asad Mazahir, director of development with Peachtree Restaurant Partners, Evansville's IHOP franchisee.

IHOP will move into the existing building onsite, and it will be split for two tenants. Mazahir said the second tenant isn't known yet. It could be either a retail establishment or restaurant.

No plans have been announced for the property IHOP is leaving. IHOP has been on North Burkhardt Road more than 20 years.

Old Chicago and Logan's Roadhouse, which sat side-by-side at North Burkhardt and Lloyd the last several years, closed in 2020. The relocation of IHOP this summer, as well as the opening of a newly constructed Bubba's 33 restaurant at the former Logan's site, will give the intersection a new look.

Bubba's 33 hasn't announced an opening date, but it is hiring staff.
