East Windsor hosts First Day Hike

Dec. 30—EAST WINDSOR — The town's American Heritage River Commission wants East Windsor residents to start 2023 off right with some time spent outdoors.

They are hosting their 13th annual hike on New Year's Day in collaboration with the state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's First Day Hike events throughout Connecticut.

According to DEEP's website there will be 14 other First Day Hike events in the state on Sunday.

East Windsor's 2.5-mile loop hike will take place at the Scantic River State Park in Broad Brook from 1 to 3 p.m.

The hike will start in the parking area at the end of Melrose Road.

A warming barrel and hot chocolate will be provided. Donations will be accepted for the Five Corner Cupboard on Scantic Road.

American Heritage River Commission member Deborah Talamini said that in the past they have had almost 300 people participate in the New Year hikes.
