New East Windsor shop offers gifts and handyman services

Jun. 2—EAST WINDSOR — One of the town's newest businesses — Funky Finds — offers unique gifts, home décor, as well as handyman services.

Owner Amy Azzara, a South Windsor resident, said her goal for the store is for it to be as unique as possible.

"When I shop, I like to find things for a good deal, and something different that not everybody has," she said.

Azzara said she chose to launch the store in town after struggling to find a spot in South Windsor.

The store, located within Pasco Commons at 35 S. Main St., sells refurbished quality furniture, home décor, unique gifts and trinkets, signs, jewelry, dishware, lamps, and much more ranging anywhere from $5 to $500 based on the item.

On top of that, Azzara also offers handyman services and interior house painting.

Azzara said that aspect of the business has been slow thus far, but she is optimistic it will pick up.

The store officially opened for business last month after a soft opening for friends and family on April 24.

Azzara praised her mother and friends for helping launch the new store.

"One is my mom, I couldn't do it without her. And my best friends, Sarah and Denise. My mom is almost 80-years old, still helping out, and she is amazing," Azzara said.

First Selectman Jason E. Bowsza said the store is versatile and has something for everyone.

"First of all, there is something for everybody at Funky Finds. It's a great place to find gifts for holidays like Mother's Day and Father's Day," Bowsza said. "East Windsor is welcoming to all kinds of business, whether small or large. A good business community means that families stay in town and that is what we're going for."

Azzara said she comes from an entrepreneurial family, explaining that her mother and father owned a successful clothing store in the 1980s.

In the past, Azzara owned a marketing company and a bagel shop in Cape Cod with her brother and sister.
