EastEnders' Bobby Beale returned on tonight's episode (June 13) after three years away from the Square.

Viewers will remember that Bobby has spent the last three years in a youth detention centre for killing his sister Lucy back in 2014.

Actor Clay Milner Russell has now taken over the role of Bobby, who's been released from prison and is back in Walford. But how has everyone reacted to his return?

For viewers watching at home, Bobby's comeback was Thursday's biggest bombshell.

The beginning of Thursday's episode saw Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) preparing for the grand launch of Walford's new gay bar, The Prince Albert, but she obviously had other things on her mind with her grandson Bobby now back on the Square.

After taking a call about Bobby's return, Kathy was in a hurry to sneak off and go home to see him.

Kathy handed over the bar's opening to Kim (Tameka Empson), but Kim got suspicious and was curious over Kathy's sudden rush, asking: "But what's more important than the launch of your bar?"

After teasing viewers with Kathy's behaviour, the soap finally revealed that Bobby was back when Kathy met her grandson at home.

Prior to Clay's appearance on the BBC One soap, EastEnders' executive producer Jon Sen said: "Clay's an exciting new talent with a charisma and an intensity that injects a new energy into the fascinating character of Bobby Beale.

"We can't wait for audiences to see Bobby return home and the impact his arrival will have on the Square."

EastEnders airs on BBC One.
