Chelsea Fox is facing a sinister new threat from husband Gray Atkins in EastEnders.

The post-Christmas period has seen Chelsea quietly planning an escape from abusive Gray, with some help from Whitney Dean and Kheerat Panesar.

Tuesday's episode (January 18) saw Chelsea's chances of getting her passport approval diminish when Gray shared some news from son Jordan's doctors.

Because the baby is now breathing on his own, Jordan's doctors have told Gray that he and Chelsea don't have to be at the hospital round the clock anymore.

Chelsea relayed the news to Kheerat that she is now essentially a prisoner in her own home, so he continued to pacify Gray by asking him to share a few drinks at the Vic to celebrate the good news about Jordan.

With Gray out of the house, Chelsea was able to slip out for her passport appointment, yet got caught by her husband trying to sneak back home before he noticed.

Chelsea desperately lied that she'd just popped out to get some milk, but Gray figured out she wasn't telling the truth by checking back the CCTV footage from his new security system.

"Unlike you, the camera doesn't lie," he sneered. "So… it's time to tell me where you've been all day. Please, don't make me ask twice."

The episode ended in a disturbing fashion, with a terrified Chelsea trying to come up with an answer that would satisfy her abusive husband.
