EastEnders fans have shown their eagle-eyed credentials once again, by spotting a new flashforward clue ahead of Lola Pearce-Brown's funeral.

Last night's (June 26) emotional episode saw Lola's loved ones visit her one final time, as they took the opportunity to write their own personal messages to Lola on her coffin.

As Lola's husband Jay Brown and her grandad Billy Mitchell stood by Lola's coffin to say their final goodbyes, a framed photo of Lola was shown propped up by the window.

One EastEnders fan was quick to point out on Twitter that the very same picture of Lola appeared in a prominent spot on the bar of The Queen Vic during the soap's Christmas flashforward scene, sharing photos of the two moments and writing: "Different frame but that's the picture of Lola that's on the bar on Christmas Day".

Another fan pointed out that it "looks like the same frame - just different lighting; its all dimpled and gold".

The photo was seen propped up on the bar in the flashforward episode, seemingly as a tribute to Lola following her death.

EastEnders aired its dramatic flashforward scene in February, as the soap skipped ahead to Christmas Day 2023.

As you might expect from a Walford Christmas, it didn't look like the Square's residents were having a peaceful celebration, as Stacey Slater, Sharon Watts, Linda Carter, Denise Fox, Suki Panesar and Kathy Beale were seen standing around an unidentified dead body in the pub.

Whether the presence of Lola's photo is any more of a clue as to who the victim could be remains to be seen - but we do know that the unfortunate person in question is male, and will be wearing a suit and cufflinks at the time of their death.

Actor Navin Chowdhry, who plays Nish Panesar, recently teased that fans should "follow the cufflinks" over the next few months, revealing that the cast have recently filmed scenes involving the accessories.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
