EastEnders' Ravi Gulati is arrested next week as one of his criminal acts comes back to haunt him.

Viewers know that Ravi is currently under close scrutiny from the police, as Jack Branning and Callum Highway have both been investigating his involvement in dodgy dealings.

Since Jack's wife Denise Fox tipped off Ravi about the investigation, the Albert Square schemer has managed to stay out of trouble by becoming especially cautious with his activities.

However, next week's episodes see Ravi suffer a setback when the police finally get a reason to bring him in for questioning.

Ravi's latest problems kick off in the fallout from a dramatic road crash on the Square.

When Kim Fox wins a new car at an awards ceremony and takes Denzel Danes out for a spin, she accidentally crashes the vehicle.

Kim is in possession of Denise's phone at the time of the incident. She later tells her sister that the crash was caused because she was distracted by incriminating messages that Ravi sent to Denise.

This forces Denise to come clean to Kim with the full story of her recent encounters with Ravi.

As Denzel fights for his life in hospital following his injuries in the crash, Kim becomes determined to solve the Ravi problem once and for all.

Kim tells Denise that they need to break up Chelsea's relationship with Ravi before she gets hurt. Kim wastes no time with her mission, urging Chelsea to break off the romance but not disclosing the reason why.

Denise also approaches Ravi and warns him to stay away from Chelsea. This has the opposite effect when a taunting Ravi vows to take things to the next level with Chelsea instead.

Feeling desperate, Denise heads out and makes a mysterious phone call.

Before long, Callum gets an urgent work call and rushes off to arrest Ravi at Walford East.

At the police station, a cautious Ravi stays tight-lipped as he's questioned by DC Webber.

Ravi is temporarily released due to lack of evidence linking him to any crime, but is it really the end of the matter? Was Denise responsible for him being quizzed in the first place? And how will Denise and Kim respond when Chelsea rushes to support Ravi following his release?

Aaron Thiara, who plays Ravi, recently explained: "When Ravi is arrested, he feels like his whole world is turning upside down. He fears he's going to lose his son, and if he loses his son then he would feel like he's lost everything in life.

"Whatever situation Ravi gets into, he always tries to find a way out but he can't see one at this point. He is convinced that he's going to prison as he can't see a way out of it unless someone helps him."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
