Ben Mitchell's evil scheming in EastEnders once again came back to bite him in Monday's (May 20) episode, but it also could lead to serious trouble for Billy Mitchell.

In recent weeks, Ben (Max Bowden) has seemingly been on his best behaviour after getting his half-sister Louise (Tilly Keeper) kidnapped - but he's only been biding his time while getting his plan to bankrupt dad Phil (Steve McFadden) back on track.

Ben also recently ran off Lola Pearce's (Danielle Harold) fiancé Ewan by threatening to murder him and his foster mother if he ever contacted Lola again. Despite the threat, Ewan made a surprise return in Monday's instalment.

Ewan came back to Walford to bring Lola and Lexi home with him, after confessing all about Ben's chilling death threat. Although he tried warning Lola of how dangerous Ben is, she angrily demanded he leave.

"Don't contact me again," she warned.

A furious Lola later confronted Ben about the threat, and although Ben wouldn't admit to anything, his behaviour made it obvious that he was guilty of everything Ewan had accused him of.

"What happened to you?" she sarcastically asked. "What happened to that Ben who just wanted his daddy to love him?"

Ben insisted: "He was weak. Now he's strong, for us. His family."

After warning Ben never to pull anything like he did with Ewan again, a dejected Lola drowned her sorrows at E20. A worried Mel tipped off Billy (Perry Fenwick) that Lola was out of sorts, so he rushed over to check on her.

Lola ultimately confessed to a shocked and horrified Billy that she was ensnared in Ben's plan to bring down Phil by building up his wealth and then stealing it all.

"He's come back for family, alright. For Phil. So he can destroy him," she sneered.

This revelation will lead to some serious trouble for Billy in the episodes ahead as paranoid Ben makes a plan to get rid of him once and for all.

Meanwhile, Ben had other problems on his hands. He once again clashed with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) when Keanu refused to hand over the logbooks for the dodgy cars.

Their disagreement caused an actual physical fight between the two, with Keanu threatening to tell Phil what Ben was up to. Are the walls closing in on Ben?

EastEnders continues on Tuesday (May 21) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
