EastEnders' Jacqueline Jossa has broken her silence after revisiting the soap for a one-off episode as Lauren Branning.

In yesterday's (June 22) scenes, Ian Beale was seen living in France with wife Cindy, son Peter and grandson Louie.

Last seen in December's funeral scenes in honour of Dot Cotton, Lauren also made an appearance, as she considered another go at romance with Peter before eventually deciding to pack her bags once again.

Peter is being played once again by Thomas Law, who portrayed the character between 2006 and 2010.

Posting a series of behind-the-scenes snaps with Thomas and Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt onto Instagram, Jacqueline wrote: "Surprise. Photobombed by the one and only @adamwoodyatt!! Glad to see you guys back where you belong.

"@thomaslaw44 was my first Peter, I remember watching the show when I was younger and rooting for Lauren and Peter, before I even knew I would ever be her."

Thomas responded in the comment section, writing: "Love this Jac! Apologies for crossing my eyes with Adam! Haha. You were so good in the ep. Such a strong performance. X."

Elsewhere, the Peter Beale star discussed his return to the show, saying it has been "an absolute delight".

"It's been great to see familiar and new faces, and I can't wait to explore the character again in the wake of Cindy's return," he added. "It's an exciting time to return!"

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw teased: "Viewers will soon learn the details relating to how he came to learn that his mum, Cindy, was in fact alive, and how he and dad, Ian, reconciled their differences.

"We're delighted to have him back permanently, but one thing is for certain, the Beales' comeback will be nothing less than explosive for the Square."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
