EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley has expressed her gratitude to fans in a message on social media, ahead of her exit from the soap.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that Stanley’s character Karen Taylor was being written out of the soap after six years as bosses look to freshen up the show.

As her exit approaches, Stanley took to her Instagram story to pen a sweet message thanking all the fans for their support during this time.

"I hear ya!", she wrote above a funny photo of her character. "So many beautiful messages, too many to reply to each one but I’m definitely feeling the love. Thank you, they really do mean a lot."

Back in August, Stanley confirmed the news of her exit by writing on Instagram: "I’ll be sad to be saying goodbye to Karen Taylor and will miss all the cast and crew at EastEnders. However I’m looking forward to my next chapters and excited about being a jobbing actor again & starting new ventures."

Stanley has been part of the EastEnders cast since 2017, and Karen has been involved in dramatic storylines such as her daughter Chantelle’s death and, more recently, her plot to bring down Sharon alongside son Keanu.

It is not yet known what Karen’s exit from Albert Square will look like or when it will air, but next week’s spoilers reveal that Mitch will organise a surprise party for her in The Vic and it remains to be seen what drama will unfold there.

Yesterday EastEnders aired a major twist that revealed Keanu is in fact not the biological father of Sharon’s son Albie – with former partner Phil being the dad instead.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
