'EastEnders' actor Zack Morris called n-word in racist attack: 'It must stop'

EastEnders actor Zack Morris has revealed he was on the receiving end of horrific racial abuse from a stranger who directed the n-word at him.

The star, who plays Keegan Baker on the BBC soap, shared his experience with his Twitter followers.

"To those who think racism is a thing of the past," the 21-year-old wrote. "Last night I walking through a car park to my car and was getting abuse from this random guy calling me a “N****” and “Uncle Tom” repeatedly.

"This is the sort of mentality that is still destroying our generation and it MUST STOP."

Morris received online support from fans following the post, as well as a message from his on-screen mother.

Lorraine Stanley, who plays Karen Taylor, responded: "What???!!!! Shame on him!!! Love you son, wish I was there ..."

Morris has been involved in several high-profile storylines since joining the programme in 2017, including one tackling knife crime.

Earlier this year on the red carpet for the British Soap Awards, Morris called for an end to the knife crime "crisis".

He said: “That’s one for the politicians. I’m not a politician. I’m an actor.

“All I do is read the words from the paper. It’s a crisis that we are going through and it needs to stop.

“All we can do as actors – as part of EastEnders – is try and change people’s mindsets. The episode is being shown in schools. That’s what we are trying to do.

“Perception is the main thing. If that changes a lot of things will follow.”
