Easter egg hunts, more activities set to take place around Erie, Meadville

The hunt for eggs is on.

Considered a sign of new life, eggs are associated with the Christian holy day of Easter that marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Egg hunts are being held in the Erie region by numerous churches and also by other organizations until after Easter, which is April 9.

Spring Egg-venture: April 8, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Erie Zoo, 423 W. 38th St. Recommended for children 12 and younger, participants can learn about animals that lay eggs, hunt for eggs to redeem for a prize, hear spring-themed keeper talks, get photos with the Easter Bunny and more.
