Easter services and egg hunts ahead in Port Clinton, Fremont

Area residents are preparing for Easter Week services that are being held throughout this week.

But the youngsters can still find events involving a search for Easter eggs and a visit with the Easter Bunny in both Sandusky and Ottawa counties.

Area Easter Week services

FREMONT- Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of Court and Wayne Streets, will host an Easter Breakfast 9-10 a.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. The menu will include homemade egg casserole, fruit, coffeecake, doughnuts and beverage. Donations will be welcome.

The morning worship service begins at 10:15 a.m. The church will be open noon-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Good Friday for The Way of the Cross, an opportunity to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice.

TOLEDO - Holy Week and Easter Liturgies is being observed at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood Blvd. The cathedral serves the full Northwest Ohio Diocese.

At noon Friday the church will observe the Stations of the Cross. At 3 p.m. Friday a service will continue with Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, celebrant and homilist.

At 8:30 p.m. Saturday the service will be with Bishop Thomas, celebrant and homilist.

On Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of the Lord will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Thomas.

KANSAS - Rock Solid Church of God will have a free all-you-can eat buffet breakfast at 9 a.m., Easter Egg hunt for five age groups including adults at 10 a.m. and Resurrection Day service at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. Easter Egg Hunts and Bunny events

Downtown Fremont will host the Easter Bunny and Shop Hop 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. The events include the Easter Bunny being at his Bunny House at the corner of Croghan and Front streets where he will meet children. Shoppers are asked to take their own baskets and look for businesses that have special signs indicating they are participating in the hop.

The Church Fremont, 1105 CR 41, Fremont, will host its 2023 Easter Egg Drop at 5:15 p.m. Saturday. The event will include dropping 25,000 eggs filled with candy. Pre-register at www.atthechurch.tv.

Visit the annual Hayes Easter Egg Roll

Also in Fremont, noon to 2 p.m. Saturday will be the annual Hayes Easter Egg Roll at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums in Spiegel Grove. Children are asked to take three hard-boiled, colored eggs to use in the egg games, which will take place on the Hayes Home lawn. These are the same games played at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. Youths ages 3-10 can take a pre-decorated egg to enter in the decorated egg contest.

The Easter Bunny will make an appearance and be available to take photos with kids. Activities include a scavenger hunt, story reading, a craft and corn hole toss. For updates visit rbhayes.org or call 419-332-2081.

In Clyde on Saturday, the Clyde Career Women is holding the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt in Clyde Community Park — rain or shine — near the Enclosed Shelter House. The event starts at 2 p.m. and children ages 9 and under are invited to take their Easter baskets and run in the field and find eggs. Children will be broken into three age groups: 3 and under, 4-6 and 7-9. The event proceeds quickly.

The City of Bellevue's Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Central Park, 215 North St. The Easter Bunny will be in his house 1-2:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Bellevue Eagles No. 490.

Ottawa County

In Elmore, Schedel Arboretum and Gardens, 19255 W. Portage River South Road, will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt 10 a.m.-3 p.m., rain or shine. Hunt times are 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Separate egg hunting areas will be designated for three age groups between the ages of 0-12. Special golden egg opportunities will be available for both sessions.

Participants should take a basket. The event is free, but donations of canned goods for the Elmore Food Bank are appreciated. Other activities include: take a photo with the Easter Bunny; an Easter Egg Cookie Decorating Station; Game Station with Harris-Elmore Library; Petting station with chicks, bunnies, ducks and goats from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Mac and Loaf’s Grill food truck; Popping George Kettle Korn; bake sale; face painting and more.
