Eastern Brown Snake Squares Up to Snake Catcher After Relocation

An eastern brown snake demonstrated its defensive pose to snake catcher Alex Reynolds after he relocated it from Cotswold Hills to Flagstone Creek, Queensland, on September 20.

In this video, Reynolds describes the snake’s defensive behavior in reaction to him. He accurately predicts that the snake will retreat whenever he holds still and poses no threat to it.

He says in the video, “she just wants to go on her way… This just proves that they will always be the first one to back away, and they won’t chase you.”

Reynolds told Storyful that this snake was just one of the many eastern brown snakes that he encounters through his work. He said he removed it from the retaining wall of a property in Cotswold Hills. Reynolds added that “she will live a long happy life now, not disturbing any more people.” Credit: Alex Reynolds via Storyful
