Eastern Market partial building collapse under investigation by Detroit officials
Officials continue to assess damage and next steps following a partial building collapse that injured one person at Eastern Market in Detroit on Saturday.
The incident occurred at 2501 Russell Street around noon. One pedestrian was injured and Detroit Fire Department medics took them to a local hospital.
The historic brick building houses several businesses, including Jabs Gym, Brooklyn Outdoor, Detroit Vs. Everybody, Beyond Juicery and Eatery and J'Adore Detroit. The incident damaged the third and fourth floors on the building's south side.

Debris from the collapse, including bricks and metal, lay in the nearby sidewalk and street Saturday, damaging nearby cars. A hole in the building's south side is visible from street view, while the building remains standing.
The Detroit Fire Department is continuing to investigate the incident, including the cause of the partial collapse and the extent of damage to the building, which was built in 1897.
