Easy as 1, 2, 3 and A, B, C: Math sparks interest of quite a few students

The Kids Page is a compilation of responses written by kindergarten through eighth-grade students from area schools. Students are asked a different question each month and answers are printed weekly.

Picking my favorite subject in school now would be hard. I like math reading and science I like all of them. They are equal math, reading, and science. They all give me a challenge to work on. So I like all of them but the hardest one is math the easiest is reading and science is in the middle of hard and easy.

I love math because it's easy and hard at the same time. I also like math because of the teacher she shows us how to make hard things easy. She teaches us all new things, she is also very kind but can be strict when it comes to either us being loud or someone is goofing off or not doing what they're supposed to.

Next to that learning in Mrs. Cates’ class is so much easier in her class learning is like me being a sponge absorbing knowledge. When I’m in Mrs. Cates’ class it’s like heaven because time flies when you’re having fun and that’s good because lunch is right after math and by that time I’m starving. Well that’s all I have to say so bye!

Math at my school is interesting, so is reading and science is so much fun at my school. What is your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject is math because I love subtraction and addition. When we learn something new, I am one of the first students to raise my hand. I am not really good at multiplication or division either yet though. Every time we go in to math, there is a daily question and I am the first one to get it done every time because they are simple. That's all the reasons why math is my favorite subject.

I have always loved school and I like all the subjects. I like math because when I am older I can pay taxes. I like reading because if I didn’t know how to read how would I be able to do math or write this? I like fluency because I would be able to pronounce words. I like writing because I can write. School is the best because you get to learn things you never knew how to do. Thank you teachers.

Do you want to know why math is my favorite subject in school? Try to guess why math is my favorite subject. I’m excited to tell you all the reasons why. Number on , I have been doing math since I was three, so I know a lot. And because of that I am really good which makes it fun. Two, I live to learn, especially math. In fact, I already started doing a pre-algebra book. The third reason is because I am smart so I can learn easily. Number four, I don’t like challenges, I love challenges!

But what I don’t like is easy stuff like 2x1=2 or 13x379=4,927. Now you know what my favorite subject in school is and why it is. What is your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject is math. I like it because there are hard questions and I like to solve hard questions. I also like math because there is addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It comes in handy too! If you have a bank account you will need to know how much to take out! We do extra math every day and I get green. I am like an expert at it and my BFF Madeline is too! I have loved math forever. Every day I want to do math. That is my favorite subject.

My favorite subject in school is math. I like math because I like doing times like clocks. I really like multiplication in math. IXL isnt bad in my opion I live doing extra math and I like how it challenges me. I like doing times it’s really fun but everybody else doesn’t like it. What I love is when you get good grades you get candy and 4 times out of ten I get good grades. I also like stuff that division.

In my opion math packets are really really fun. I play a lot of math games on her clever touch screen in her room. I like the prizes in her room things like sticky hands and snakes like little ones and weird squshy eye balls. Sometimes I do divided by in her class but only when I get done with class stuff. I want to be a math teacher when I’m older.
