All-you-can-eat sushi spot moving to former Mikuni site in Sacramento. When will it open?

Sushi will return to Arden Fair mall’s Market Square soon.

Pier 50, a new all-you-can-eat sushi concept by Fukumi Restaurant Group, will replace Mikuni at 1735 Arden Way, according to the company’s website.

Mikuni recently moved out of the Arden Fair location. The popular chain opened a new Arden Arcade restaurant on Wednesday at Pavilions shopping center on Fair Oaks Boulevard.

According to the Fukumi Restaurant Group, Pier 50 will open early this spring.

Sylbi Song, who owns the group with her husband, Han, told The Sacramento Bee that the group is aiming to open Pier 50 in mid-March.

Song and her husband created Fukumi Restaurant Group after moving from Vegas to Sacramento in 2019.

The pair opened their first eatery, Fukumi Ramen, in Roseville, serving Hakata-style ramen. Since then, they’ve expanded the Fukumi Ramen brand with a Citrus Heights location.

They also own Fukumi Chaya in Folsom and Its Sushi, an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant, in Roseville.

“We are very grateful for this community, for sure,” Song said. “(We) risked everything coming up with our little children — we have three kids. It was a big journey for us to come here and open something up of our own.”

She said they’re excited about Pier 50’s opening, as it’s the biggest location they’ve secured and they’re trying something new with the concept.

The restaurant will split its aesthetics with one part embracing a high-end, lounge look while the other section will feature a more traditional dining experience with a family setting.

“We want our place to turn into the go-to place to hang out and eat good food,” Song said.

There will be more than 100 menu items, she said, including small dishes, Korean fusion food and non-raw options.

Prices will range from $30 to $50 for each person for the all-you-can-eat package.
