It’s Wednesday, Chicago!

Summer is eagerly waiting just around the corner, and at the Tribune, we couldn’t be more excited to finally be making some plans.

We’ve been working hard on our Top 10 summer previews, spread across a plethora of arts and entertainment genres. This week, we’ve got highlights in dance and movies. While the lists include heavy-hitters like Joffrey Ballet and “Jurassic World Dominion,” there are a variety of options featured. As a Filipino American, I was excited to see comic Jo Koy’s “Easter Sunday” movie make the cut.

Meanwhile, the restaurant industry is heating up too, with some places trying to make their comeback after facing pandemic closures. The Tribune’s Nick Kindelsperger takes a look at Naansense, a fast-casual Indian restaurant that recently reopened its brand-new Loop location, and he’s also got a review of Alpana, a comeback of a different sorts from Chicago sommelier and former “Check, Please!” host Alpana Singh.

See you next week.

‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ review: A legal drama that’s an antidote to the Dick Wolf-ification of the TV landscape

Author Michael Connelly is all over TV at the moment: His Harry Bosch novels have been adapted into a very successful TV series, and his books about Mickey Haller, aka the Lincoln lawyer, are getting the TV treatment for Netflix.

Legal dramas have long been a staple in TV and film, but the cops in “The Lincoln Lawyer” are not portrayed as heroes. And Tribune critic Nina Metz writes that it “feels like a breath of fresh air.” Read the full review here.
