Eau Claire man in custody after police pursuit and standoff in Lake Hallie

LAKE HALLIE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – An Eau Claire man is in custody after being chased by police who say he was armed with a machete. Lake Hallie Police say 44-year-old Chad Nylen was speeding and swerving between lanes on Business 53 around 11:30 Saturday night (2/17/24).

According to reports, an officer stopped the vehicle and Nylen got out armed with a machete in one hand and a large knife in the other. He then got back in the car and drove off and a chase started. He got out of the vehicle again and ran into the roadway. Officers used a taser to stop Nylen and take him into custody. Lake Hallie Police say he admitted to drinking and using meth before driving.
