eBay bans sale of 'topless Kate' featuring magazine

Johannesburg, September 19 (ANI): US internet auction giant eBay has announced that it will ban sale of copies of the French magazine that features topless photos of Duchess of Cambridge. Until now enterprising eBay users have been selling last Friday's issue of Closer - that has enraged the British royal family by printing pictures of Kate Middleton sunbathing - to buyers outside France for up to 34 euros. A French court on Tuesday banned the magazine from any further publication or resale of the pictures. A criminal investigation has also been launched to find how the magazine obtained the photos. eBay said that it had decided to block the sale of the magazine in response to its users' feedback, News24 reported. "Following strong feedback from the eBay community, we will be removing these items, and are already in the process of doing so," a London-based spokesperson for the company said. But the spokesperson did not confirm whether listings of Italian magazine Chi and the Irish Daily Star tabloid, which had also published the grainy long-lens photos of Kate, would also be removed. Several copies of Chi were up for sale on eBay on Tuesday with a top price of 42.95 dollars, the bidders had also offered up to 24.30 dollars for a copy of the Irish Daily Star. (ANI)
