CANTON − A movie starring Stark County native Eddie McClintock will premier in Northeast Ohio with screenings at the Canton Palace Theatre on Feb. 4 and 5.

"Miracle at Manchester," which is also directed by McClintock, will be presented by the Palace in conjunction with CantonFilm.com. The film is based on the true story of Brycen Newman, who at age 15 was diagnosed with medulloblastoma — an aggressive and fast-growing form of brain cancer.

The movie shows how a community in San Diego came together through prayer and support "while two men find their own restoration in (Newman's) healing journey," said a Palace Theatre news release announcing the local screenings.

"Miracle at Manchester," which takes place at a Catholic high school, also stars Dean Cain.

McClintock, a 1985 Hoover graduate who now lives in Los Angeles, starred for five seasons in the hit SyFy Channel series “Warehouse 13,” which ran from 2009 through 2014. Cain played the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," and also has appeared in the movies "Bed & Breakfast," "God's Not Dead," "The Way Home," "Out of Time," "Rat Race" and "Vendetta."

James Waters, who heads the annual Canton Film Fest, is also involved with the upcoming screenings of "Miracle at Manchester."

Waters said he's become friends with McClintock.

"The big thing is that we want to celebrate people from here that are working in the film business and inspire the community that anything is possible," said Waters, who is also involved with CantonFilm.com, an entity that brings the Film Fest and other movie-related events to the area.

'Miracle at Manchester' is family-friendly, faith-based film

McClintock's other film and television credits include "The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers," the Lifetime movie, "My Stepfather's Secret," the Netflix series "No Good Nick," the USA Network's conspiracy thriller "Shooter," "MacGyver," "Supergirl," "Agents of Shield," "Modern Family" and "Castle."

In 2013, Campbell wrote and produced his first faith-based film entitled "Finding Faith." The movie starred Erik Estrada and depicted a true story about a young girl being abducted by an internet predator.

The movie spawned a faith-based film ministry, JCFilms, which has produced more than 50 family-friendly movies. Campbell is president of JCFilms, which also made "Miracle at Manchester."

"Miracle at Manchester" will be shown on Feb. 5 at Canton Palace Theatre. The movie stars Stark County native Eddie McClintock, who also directs the film.

JCFilms has explored topics such as bullying, internet safety, homelessness, opioid addiction, and appreciation of teachers and police.

McClintock and Cain both starred in the 2021 release, "Chosen," a JCFilms production and multi-plot film about adoption and foster parenting that tells true stories about how one community makes a difference in the lives of foster kids.

The movie led to the creation of the non-profit organization Ohio Helping Hands, which helps people find ways to support foster and adoptive families.
