Eddies' Andrina wins individual regional wrestling title
Edwardsburg's Nathan Andrina got a measure of revenge and claimed Southwestern Michigan's lone individual regional wrestling championship Saturday.
Andrina edged Battle Creek Harper Creek's Nick Martinez 3-1 to capture the 165-pound title in the Division 2 regional at Jackson Northwest. Andrina (40-4) lost a 7-5 overtime heartbreaker last week in the district championship match.
A total of 16 area wrestlers qualified for the State Individual Championships, scheduled for March 3 and 4 at Ford Field in Detroit.

Edwardsburg and Brandywine led the area with five state qualifiers apiece. Earning berths for the Eddies along with Andrina were Austin Mark (33-12), third at 190, and Caden Manfred (32-10), Colten Strawderman (26-5) and Andrew Harris (32-9), who were fourth at 113, 144 and 215, respectively. Advancing for Niles from Division 2 were Sam Rucker (386 at 165), Julian Means-Flewellen (41-10 at 175) and Brett Barrett (19-9 at 285), who were all fourth.
Bobcats advancing from the Division 3 regional at Adrian Madison were Josmar Perez (39-7 at 106), who was second, Kaiden Rieth (42-7 at 120), who was third, and Drake Heath (37-11 at 132), Gavin Schoff (40-6 at 157) and Phillip McLaurin (40-8 at 215), who were all fourth.
Dowagiac had two state qualifiers in Andrew Hartman (31-13), who was second at 165, and Israel Villegas (25-5), who was third at 138.
The area's lone qualifier from the Division 4 regional at Mendon was Cassopolis 106-pounder Brandon Hemminger (22-10), who was fourth.
