Edison firm wants to demolish office building for parking lot on New Durham Road

EDISON – The Planning Board is scheduled to hear a proposal to demolish a two-story office building to make room for a larger parking lot and electric vehicle charging spaces next to a warehouse and distribution building on New Durham Road.

CRP/SG Edison Industrial Owner is seeking approval from the Planning Board to make modifications to the existing property at 1000 New Durham Road and 4-5 Gladys Court. The application is scheduled to be presented to the board on June 19.

There is a 32,372-square-foot warehouse distribution building on one lot and a 61,490-square-foot, two-story office building on another lot on the property.

The applicant wants to demolish the office building, maintain the warehouse distribution building and merge the two lots to create a 6.4-acre lot and expand and reconfigure the existing parking area to include a total of 112 parking spaces for cars, 15 electric vehicle charging spaces and 120 parking spaces for vans, according to public documents.

Plans also call for improvements to the landscaping and lighting and installing sidewalks along New Durham Road.
