Edison teen seriously injured in Route 27 pedestrian crash in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE – A young woman from Edison was seriously injured Monday after being struck by a vehicle while walking along Route 27.

Police received multiple calls around 1:48 p.m. Monday about a crash involving a pedestrian on Route 27 at Magnolia Road.

Arriving officers found an 18-year-old Edison woman face down on the roadway, police said. Emergency medical service personnel arrived and transported the woman to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where she was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit because she is under age 21, police said.

Police said the vehicle involved was a 2010 Mazda Tribute.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.
