EDMOND — Principals at Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe high schools have emailed parents to inform them some students might have seen, recorded and shared a sex act video involving an unidentified man.

According to Edmond police and a school spokesperson, the video unexpectedly appeared Wednesday at the end of a school-hosted guest video presentation involving about 150 computer science students from both high schools attending the event on Edmond North's campus.

"At this point, the investigation shows the district’s network was not compromised to gain access to the presenter’s link," said Susan Parks-Schlepp, Edmond Public Schools' director of communications.

"An individual was mistakenly admitted to the video call. Regrettably, what students saw next on a portion of the screen was an inappropriate meme. Immediately, the presentation was shut down," she said.

In the note to parents, the two schools' principals described what students saw "was a man engaging in a sexual act."

"Although the outsider was on screen for a short time, some students used their phones to capture video of the incident and those videos have been shared with other students. That is why we have chosen to provide the facts as we know them to all (Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe) parents," they wrote.

Edmond North Principal Dandy Peeler and Santa Fe Principal Jason Hayes told parents in the email that district administrators and technology team members are investigating how the intruder was able to join the presentation.

"We know that this incident is troubling. It is never our intent for students to view something of this nature. We are deeply sorry that this occurred and are taking every step possible to ensure that something like this does not happen again," the principals wrote.

Edmond police also are investigating, a spokesperson for that agency confirmed Thursday.
