Oilers' Connor McDavid has stellar 6-point performance vs. Avalanche
With every passing game, every single hockey fan is stuck wondering if Connor McDavid has reached his ceiling. On Thursday night against the Colorado Avalanche, the Edmonton Oilers star seemingly took his ability to a mind-bending level.
Through a little more than 16 minutes of play, McDavid had already scored two goals and assisted on two others. His name was tattooed throughout the boxscore.
On his second goal of the first period, he made the Avalanche look like a Junior B team that decided to tank for some reason.

He does it all himself, going from zone to zone, and beats rookie goaltender Adam Werner clean over his glove.
McDavid makes everything look so easy, leaving no doubt in anyone’s mind that he is currently the best player in the NHL.
Through this ridiculous first period, he went ahead and matched some franchise records as well.

Equaling a record that Wayne Gretzky had is quite the accomplishment, but it’s no surprise that it was the forward from Newmarket, Ontario, that was able to complete the task.
McDavid finished the game with three goals and three assists, earning the hat shower. The six points is a single game career-high for McDavid.
He is the fifth player in franchise history to score six hat tricks, joining the likes of Gretzky (43), Glenn Anderson (20), Jari Kurri (20), and Mark Messier (13) — an established group from the Oilers’ golden years.
Edmonton’s captain is now up to 14 goals and 37 points in just 21 games this season.
