NEW YORK — Eduardo Escobar said he wasn't feeling right when he went outside to field ground balls prior to the Mets' Thursday night game against the Brewers.

He had a headache and started to feel dizzy, so he told the trainers and ended up at the hospital receiving a variety of tests. That meant a late scratch in the lineup, late night at the hospital and two days away from the diamond.

"I also think it's because I've been feeling some pressure in my ears in the last couple of games. I think that's been causing the dizziness that I've had," Escobar said after the game on Friday. "They've given me some medication to ease that. It should be getting better soon."

He said he felt good on Friday, and Buck Showalter said before the game that he was available to play. Escobar tried to convince the Mets manager to let him play on Friday, but Showalter turned him down.

Asked if he expects to be in the lineup on Saturday against the Marlins, Escobar quipped: "700 percent."

"Everything came back clean and thank God," Escobar said. "I'll be back in the lineup tomorrow."

In Escobar's two-game absence, he was replaced by Luis Guillorme at third base.
