Clack principal promoted to Abilene ISD administrative role

Dr. Christopher Bailey, principal at Clack Middle School, is the new executive director of behavior and student supports for the Abilene ISD.

He will assume his role at the end of the current school year.

The district made the announcement last week.

“Abilene ISD is committed to ensuring that every student has a safe and successful learning experience at school, and Dr. Bailey is the right person to help us maintain that priority,” AISD Superintendent David Young said. “He brings a wealth of talent and student support experience to his new role that will serve our school community well.”

Bailey has been an educator in Texas public schools for 18 years. He began his career in Katy ISD in 2005, where he served as the director of bands at James E. Taylor High School and later as assistant principal for student support at Stockdick Junior High School.

He then joined the Abilene district.

At Katy, Bailey chaired the Safe and Civil Schools Foundations Team and helped lead strategic planning teams for both Katy and Abilene ISDs.

“Supporting the needs of children as they grow is why I chose to become an educator,” Bailey said. “I am excited for the opportunity to serve all students in AISD in this new role and to work alongside an amazing support staff to provide the very best learning in the Big Country.”

Bailey holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Baylor University. He also completed his master’s program at Baylor and his bachelor’s degree at Stephen F. Austin State University.

He was named Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals in 2022.

McMurry program to provide transparent billing

McMurry University will launch its Inclusive Access Program for the fall term in an attempt to make college more affordable.

The program will provide one bill to students that covers tuition, laptops and leased textbooks.

McMurry believes the program better allows students to anticipate expenses. They can better budget each semester knowing what he or she has to play.
