Aultman College preview day is Wednesday

CANTON – Aultman College is opening its doors for a preview day, an open house-style event for interested students, at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The event includes tours of college facilities and classrooms, the opportunity to meet with students, faculty and staff and presentations about the various programs in nursing, radiography, social work, medical assisting and the health sciences, as well as College Credit Plus for high school students.

North Canton student receives scholarship

John O’Donnell of North Canton, a camper at the Ohio Forestry Association Foundation’s annual Camp Canopy at Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum in June, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for Milligan Tree Farm. Scholarships were awarded to eight campers pursuing a major within forestry, wildlife, or environmental sciences.

The Ohio Forestry Association Foundation hosts Camp Canopy each year to expose students to the career opportunities in the natural resources field and educate them in technical skills for forestry, wildlife, and conservation.

Jackson High School student on Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council

Presley Horton of Jackson High School is among 16 Ohio high school students the Ohio School Safety Center recently selected for the 2023-24 Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council. Gov. Mike DeWine created the council last year. The group worked with OSSC leadership to identify school safety concerns and develop innovative solutions to address them. Students will be presenting their capstone projects at the 2023 School Safety Summit this summer.

The council will be invited to attend the in-person Ohio School Safety Summit on July 25-26 at the Columbus Convention Center to network with their peers and attend initial informational sessions on violence prevention strategies.

North Canton resident takes post at Summit Academy health, safety and security director

Evan McIntosh of North Canton began his new position recently as the director of health, safety and security for Summit Academy Schools. He will oversee health, safety and security for 23 Summit Academy Schools throughout Ohio, including two in Canton.

McIntosh spent the past nine years as a police officer for the Canton Police Department. During his tenure with the department, McIntosh held assignments in the patrol division, detective bureau and Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. McIntosh holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology and justice studies from Kent State University.

Walsh University DeVille School of Business earns ACBSP accreditation

Walsh University’s DeVille School of Business has been awarded accreditation of its business programs after a rigorous evaluation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners. The DeVille School of Business offers 10 undergraduate majors, four degree-completion programs and four MBA (Master of Business Administration) specialties.
