Education roundup: Canton Student Loan Foundation aids Stark graduates

CANTON − The Canton Student Loan Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is offering student loans to Stark County graduates. The loans can be applied to any undergraduate course of study, including four-year college degrees, two-year associate degrees and degrees from technology and trade schools.

To celebrate its 100-year history, the foundation has increased loan amounts to $4,000 per year and $16,000 overall. There are no fees and interest, and payments are deferred while the student is in school. Since 1922, The Canton Student Loan Foundation has provided $40 million to Stark County students.

To be eligible for a loan, students must have graduated from a Stark County high school, have and maintain a 2.0 grade-point average, be pursuing a post high school education, and be attending school on a full-time basis (enrolled for at least 12 credit hours per term).

Graduate school loans are also available. To borrow funds for graduate school, the student must be a current Canton Student Loan Foundation student.

To apply online, visit www.cantonstudentloan.org. There is no deadline, but applications submitted before June 1 will ensure financial aid before the fall semester begins.
