State seeks feedback on House Bill 1.

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) seeks input on House Bill 1(HB 1), which Gov. Ron DeSantis signed earlier this year.

Under HB 1, all Florida students are now eligible for taxpayer-financed vouchers for up to $8,500 to attend private schools.

HB 1 also allows the FDOE to develop and submit recommendations that will reduce regulation for public schools. The considerations can come from school superintendents, school board members, teachers, home educators and community members.

The suggestions will be taken into account when policy recommendations are introduced during the 2024 legislative session.

The FDOE asks that suggestions be detailed and stated as concisely as possible.

Suggestions can be submitted until Aug. 15 at www.surveymonkey.com/r/FloridaHB1.
