Eerie Night Footage Shows Scorched Remains of California's Berry Creek

Eerie footage shared late on Friday, September 11, shows scorched cars and rubble after the Bear Fire tore through Berry Creek, California.

Craig Philpott, an independent fire reporter who captured these images, described assessing the scene as an “emotional experience,” tweeting: “So much damage and so few positive views. Huge infrastructure damage to poles and lines. So many lost homes.”

The Bear Fire forms part of the North Complex fire – a blaze that was started by lightning on August 17.

According to local reports nine people had died in connection to the North Complex fire, which had burned through 252,313 acres with just 21 percent containment as of Saturday, September 12, officials said. Credit: Craig Philpott via Storyful
