EF-0 tornado touched down in Iredell County, NWS says

The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in Iredell County Saturday morning.

NWS said a tornado developed over Lake Norman shortly before 7:30 a.m. before moving onshore near the Lake Campus of Davidson College.

Picnic Tables were blown into the water and a large hardwood tree was snapped. Several other trees between the campus and Interstate 77 and a fence near Mooresville Middle School were also damaged, according to NWS.

The tornado finally ended as it crossed into Rowan County just before 7:40 a.m.

NWS said this information is subject to change pending a preliminary investigation.
