In effort to boost voter participation, Meghan Markle has been cold-calling fellow Americans

Meghan Markle is doing her part to get the vote out.

The embattled Duchess of Sussex recently encouraged voter turnout by calling her fellow Americans to discuss the Nov. 3 election.

According to political activist Gloria Steinem, Markle came home to vote – and to get others to do so, too.

“Meg is herself, smart, authentic, funny, political,” Steinem told Access Hollywood, remarking that the “Suits” alum is much more than a “princess.”

“She came home to vote,” Steinem added, referencing Markle and Prince Harry’s exit from England after withdrawing from the Royal Family.

The 86-year-old feminism icon says her further engagement happened during a recent visit to her home.

“The first thing we did, and why she came to see me was we sat at the dining room table here, where I am right now, and cold-called voters,” Steinem revealed, adding that Markle greeted everyone on the phone with “Hi, I’m Meg” and followed up with, “Are you going to vote?”

“That was her initiative,” she praised.

Markle, a native of Los Angeles, will be the first member of the Royal Family to vote in a U.S. election.

“I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless,” she told Marie Claire during a recent interview. “I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard. And that opportunity, that fundamental right, is in our ability to exercise our right to vote and to make all of our voices heard.”
