Eggs Benedict didn’t get its name from Benedict Arnold.
Disappointing, we know, but what can you do?
There are actually conflicting stories as to the origins of eggs Benedict, involving storied New York City establishments like Delmonico’s and the Waldorf Hotel.
Regardless of its murky origins, eggs Benedict is a big hit with the breakfast crowd.
So much so, that it gets its own national day.
Sunday, April 16 is National Eggs Benedict Day.
To celebrate, we put together a list of five restaurants from around the Taunton area that are putting their own spin on those Bennys:

Bet on these Bennys: Try Brando’s Eggs Benny. Yes, Marlon Brando. They’ve got a bunch of different options to switch up your eggs Benedict, including Portuguese options like linguiça or caçoila. All eggs Benedict come with two poached eggs on an English muffin, topped with Hollandaise sauce, and served with home fries or baked beans.

The Portuguese Benny is a grilled bolo levedo (think: a bigger, sweeter, English muffin), topped with two poached eggs, Portuguese hash and Hollandaise, served with home fries. The Irish Benny is two poached eggs on a toasted English muffin, with homemade or corned beef hash, and Hollandaise, served with home fries.
