Germany, within the framework of the European Union, plays a role in achieving peace in the Middle East, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri said on Tuesday at a meeting with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock.

There can be cooperation between Cairo and Berlin to achieve a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and establish appropriate frameworks to achieve stability and peace in the region, he said.

Shoukri stressed the need to achieve stability in the Palestinian Territories of Gaza and the West Bank, deal with the issue of hostages and humanitarian protests in the Gaza Strip, and put an end to Israeli settler encroachment.
