Eight local teams ranked in Dave Campbell's Texas Football rankings

The latest release of Dave Campbell's Texas Football high school football rankings had eight teams from the Texas Panhandle included in the top 10 of their respective classes.

The Tascosa Rebels (2-0) stayed steady at No. 5 in the Class 5A Division I rankings following a 48-27 win over 6A Midland Legacy last Friday night.

In Class 4A Division I, the No. 10 Dumas Demons broke into the rankings after a 33-7 handling of Lubbock Estacado on the road. The Bushland Falcons also broke into the top 10 list with a Class 3A Division I No. 10 ranking coming after their convincing 47-21 victory over Canadian last week.

Those same Canadian Wildcats fell two spots down to No. 4 in the Class 3A Division II rankings because of the loss.

The defending state champion Stratford Elks moved up one spot to No. 8 in the Class 2A Division I rankings after beating Sunray 41-21 last Friday night.

Wellington, once again, checked-in at No. 4 in the Class 2A Division II rankings despite a 28-24 loss to Lubbock Christian.

Finally, Class 1A Six-Man Division I No. 8 Happy and No. 10 Valley round out the local football programs that are ranked. Happy defeated Follett 64-14 last week while Valley prevailed 46-13 over Springlake-Earth.
