Eight women to be honored for their community contributions

ZANESVILLE - Eight women will be honored with a Women of Achievement award during this year's ceremony. The awards are designed to honor women for their contributions to education, volunteer work, managerial work, or in their professional roles. The recipients and their awards are:

∎ Carol Bryan, the Muskingum Family Y Lifetime Service Award

∎ Susan Farus Brown, the Josephine Phillips Heath Care Award

∎ Paula Harsch, the Winifred K. Vogt Education Award

∎ Megan Jones, the Ethel Granger Schultz Young Adult Award

∎ Heather Dolen, the Mary Townsend Professions Award

∎ Shala Aitken, the Mary Vashti Jones Funk Business Award

∎ Ellen Shaw, the Aldine Roach Flegal Special Recognition Award

∎ Camryn Welch, the Muskingum Community Youth Foundation Bright Futures Award

The awards ceremony will take place April 19, at the Campus Center, located on the Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College campus.

The Muskingum Family Y began the achievement program to recognize women in the community who succeeds in different endeavors in 1988. Over the past 35 years, 242 women in the Muskingum County community have been recognized through the program. Last year's recipients were Mary Arnold, Beth Brown, Judy Davis, Mary Ann Dutro, Stephanie Freas, Kierston Harper, Julie MacLaine and Sheryl Wise.

Proceeds from the event provide scholarships to local women who attend Ohio University Zanesville or Zane State College for higher education.
